Legal Aid of Nebraska’s Tax Law Project works to ensure the fairness and integrity of the tax system for low-income taxpayers by educating about taxpayer rights and responsibilities, by providing free representation in tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and by identifying and advocating for issues impacting low-income taxpayers.
Tax law can be confusing and working with the IRS can be difficult.
If you are having problems with the IRS, the Tax Law Project may be able to help!
Tax consultation is available regardless of income and assets. Taxpayers whose incomes do not exceed 250% of the federal poverty guidelines may qualify for IRS controversy representation. The amount in controversy for any tax year generally should not exceed $50,000.
The Tax Law Project does not prepare tax returns.
