The Agricultural Worker Rights Program helps agricultural workers in Nebraska assert their employment rights. Our focus is on ensuring agricultural workers are paid what they are owed under the law, ensuring that their working conditions are safe, and addressing harassment and discrimination in the workplace. This includes seasonal or year-round workers, as well as temporary and migrant workers, in any crop producing, livestock, food products, or food processing field.
Common legal issues we help with
- Health and safety issues: Pesticide exposure, work-related injuries, no clean water, no access to restroom, lack of proper equipment, lack of education and training, employer-provided housing issues
- Unfair pay practices: Paid less than minimum wage, paid a monthly wage not based on hours, not paid promised wage, paid irregularly, paid less than hours worked
- Discrimination: Discrimination based on race, religion, color, national origin, or sex; sexual harassment
